Side by Side Singing for December 2018

When you are ‘making your list and checking it twice’ don’t forget

to put ‘Side by Side Singing’ on your calendar for Thursday,

December 13 at 2pm. We will be singing in the Kaplan auditorium

of the Hendersonville library, 301 N. Washington St., Hendersonville.

There is free parking in the lot outside the rear entrance, and also in

the lot across the street.

Songleaders Ruthie Rosauer and Jan Mallindine will accompany the

group on piano and guitar as we sing well-loved Christmas songs such

as “Joy to the World” and “Frosty the Snowman.” The session is free

and handicap accessible. You know nothing gets you in the Holiday

spirit better than singing! We hope you will come sing with us!

Wear your elf ears, your Santa hats and bring your jingle bells!!!!

Side by Side this Summer

When you arrive at Side by Side Singing you will be greeted by the smiling faces of our volunteers. On the far left (above) is Beth Mallindine, then Ruthie Rosauer, Liz Hill and on far right is Jan Mallindine.

Today we sang at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher, North Carolina. Next week we will be singing in the Kaplan Auditorium of the Hendersonville Public Library (301 N. Washington St.) at 2pm.

We will also be singing at Calvary Episcopal Church (corner of Old Airport Rd. and Highway 25 (aka Hendersonville Highway) in Fletcher) at 2pm on Thursdays, August 23 and August 30.  All sessions are free!

Please NOTE:  the September session originally scheduled for the Hendersonville Library has been cancelled due to remodeling of the building.

We are looking forward to singing “Side by Side” with you “In the Good

Old Summertime.”  These are the dates for our summer Side by Side

All sessions are free and open to the public. Please feel free to invite

your friends. You need not be an experienced singer or

able to read music to participate fully. Lyric sheets are provided.

We sing well-loved favorites such as: Take Me Out to the Ballgame,

Let Me Call you Sweetheart and Oh What a Beautiful Morning.

Songleaders Jan Mallindine, Debbie Nordeen and Ruthie Rosauer

will provide guitar and piano accompaniment.

Both locations are handicap accessible with free parking.

Mark your calendars now, we have our first Summer 2018 dates planned. The three following dates will be at Kaplan Auditorium at the Hendersonville Library, 301 North Washington St., Hendersonville, NC:

More dates will be listed here as they are confirmed. There is never a charge to attend Side by Side Singing. You need not be an experienced singer to join us.

First Side by Side Singing Date in 2018

You remember how librarians used to “shush” people if they so much as whispered in the library? Well, that rule will be set aside on Thursday, February 8 from 2 – 3pm as singers gather to sing “Side by Side” in the Kaplan Auditorium of the Hendersonville Public Library. The library is located at 301 North Washington St. in Hendersonville, NC.
Side by Side Singing is community singing for EVERYONE. We will do a few vocal warm-ups and then proceed to singing old favorites such as “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” and “This Land is Your Land.” Music can be a wonderfully empowering component in healthy aging. But we like to sing because it is fun!
Song leaders Jan Mallindine and Ruthie Rosauer will accompany the group on piano and guitar. You need not be able to read music or be an experienced singer. Anyone who enjoys singing should come sing with us. The event is free and lyric sheets will be provided.

Side by Side dates for Christmas and the new year!

In my opinion it is never too ‘early’ to sing Christmas songs! I’m always ready for some ‘holly jolly’ singing. It is time to mark your calendars for Side by Side Singing for Christmas on Tuesdays, December 5 and 12 at 2pm. We’ll be at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher, NC. We will sing in their handicap-accessible Parish Hall with songleaders Jan Mallindine on guitar and Ruthie Rosauer on piano.

We also have our first date for 2018 — Thursday, February 8, at 2pm. For this song session we will be at Kaplan Auditorium in Hendersonville Public Library in downtown Hendersonville, NC. Song leaders will be Jan Mallindine and Ruthie Rosauer.

All sessions are free. You don’t need any experience singing to fully participate. Come sing with us!!!!

New Dates for Side by Side Set

We will be singing Side by Side for Christmas on Tuesday, December 5 and 12 from 2 – 3pm at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher, North Carolina. Song leaders will be Ruthie Rosauer and Jan Mallindine. Come sing and be jolly with us!

We also know our first date in 2018. We will be singing on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 2pm at the Hendersonville Library on 3rd St. in Hendersonville. Song leaders will be Ruthie Rosauer on piano and Jan Mallindine on guitar. A good time to get ‘tuned up’ in the new year.

All sessions of Side by Side Singing are free. Song books are provided. Side by Side will be cancelled any time the Henderson County schools are closed.

Side by Side Sings “Happy Trails” to Summer 2017

Songleaders Debbie Nordeen (far left), Ruthie Rosauer (with clarinet) and Jan Mallindine led singers in their summer farewell session in Asheville on August 30. Ruthie broke out her clarinet for this session and added some zest (and a few squeaks) to “When the Saints Go Marching Home.”  We were also favored by a mother-daughter duet on “Amazing Grace” that was beautifully harmonized. Everyone loved “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” !!!!
